Father: Nathaniel Farnsworth (3), b. 22 February 1797 at Staten Island, NY, d. 24 September 1869 at Buckhannon, Upshur County, WV
Mother: Susanna Pamelia Simons, b. 23 May 1806, d. 1888 at Buckhannon, Upshur County, WV
m. Mary E. Carper.
He distinguished himself as a leading citizen of the state, having been repeatedly elected to both Houses of its Legislature, and serving as President of the Senate for four yrs. He was recognized as an uncommonly able presiding officer. Both he, and his cousin, the Governor were large landed proprietors in WV and followed agricultural pursuits on a large scale.


FARNSWORTH, Thomas Jefferson (1829- ) was born in Buckhannon and educated in the common schools. He engaged in farming and cattle raising in Upshur County. In 1874 he was elected to the Legislature, and served until 1878. In 1880 he was elected to the State Senate and served until 1884. He was president of the Senate, 1883-84. He was Regent for W. Va.
